MetroWest Scholars Early Start/Early College

On Thursday, June 13, Governor Charlie Baker announced a $140,000 grant award to support the MetroWest Scholars Early-Start program at Framingham and Milford high schools. The program aims to reach low-income and underrepresented students and families starting in 8th grade, by exposing them to in-demand professional fields and career pathways, including business, sociology/criminology, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and education.

100 Males to College

Until his senior year at Framingham High School, the path to college felt like a maze for Enoc Cruzado. “I honestly never thought about which college I was going to go to, or how I was going to apply to it,” said Cruzado, the first member of his family to go to college. “Whenever I thought about it, I would just get stressed . . . I wasn’t sure where to begin.”

Youth Summit 2018

A group of student interns at the MetroWest College Planning Center (CPC) is organizing a Youth Summit for high school students from eight area school districts that will take place on Framingham State University’s campus on May 4th. The interns who attend Framingham State University and MassBay Community College created the Youth Summit to provide area high school students with leadership and professional development opportunities they might not otherwise have access to.

Opening of CPC in 2015

Even without a home, the MetroWest College Planning Center has had no small impact. On Thursday, the organization’s new building on Framingham State University’s campus opened, providing a symbol of the hope it has already provided to prospective students. The College Planning Center is a combined effort between Framingham State and MassBay Community College to make higher education more accessible. The concept got underway last school year, but on Thursday the center opened the doors to its permanent home at Framingham State’s 1812 House.
