In School Advising

In-school Advising provides wrap around college support services in high schools. This team currently prepares students in seven districts to successfully enroll in college after high school.

Advisees are guided by one of five College Planning Collaborative college access coaches through: 1:1 meetings during their school day to work on filling out

applications, completing the FAFSA, searching available scholarships, researching careers and expanding mindset to further increase participation in dual-enrollment, bridge programs, and college visits. Through the use of workshops and trainings, coaches mentor students toward a successful future in higher education and career.

College for a Day events are college access and readiness campus tours that include transportation, lunch or dinner, a student panel with first generation college students who tell their story about preparing for college and successfully completing semester to semester and a scavenger hunt. This activity empowers underrepresented students from the region to participate in their own exploration on campus through experiential learning activities and real near peer conversations. CPC served 29 trips for 955 students and parents in FY 2019.
